Abrasives

We are stocking distributors for the following:

ALUMINUM OXIDE

Used for its strength and hardness, Aluminum Oxide, or ALOX, is used for surface preparation, sandblasting, etching, and anti-slip applications.

Tough and durable, ALOX can be recycled many times. Available in grit sizes 16 – 180 and packaged in 2000# Supersacks, 800# drums, 400# paper kegs or 50# bags.

STEEL SHOT

The round ball shape of the steel shot produces a clean, smooth and polished surface.  The smaller steel shot will result in a smoother surface, where the larger shot will clean more aggressively, but produce a rougher surface.  The angular shape of steel grit cleans aggressively at the surface while leaving a uniform surface profile.

Steel shot and steel grit can be used with both air and wheel blast applications.  Due to its hardness and density, steel shot and steel grit can be recycled multiple times.  Steel Shot is available in 2000# drums ranging from sizes from S170 to S780.

STEEL GRIT

Steel grit is widely used in ship and railcar manufacturing and maintenance. Steel shot and steel grit can be used with both air and wheel blast applications.  Due to its hardness and density, steel shot and steel grit can be recycled multiple times.

Steel Grit is available in 1700# of GL25 or GL40 and 1500# of GL50.  Please email for current pricing and availability.

While we do not regularly stock the following abrasives, we sell:

GARNET, HARD ROCK

A naturally inert mineral, the sharp, angular characteristics of the almandine rock garnet provide fast cutting and are ideal for removing thick coatings and producing a deeper surface profile.  Recyclable up to 5 times, and with lower dust levels, hard rock garnet is a great alternative to other blast medias.

Garnet, hard rock (currently only available by the container load), available grit size 20/40 and 30/60 packaged in 4400# bulk bags or 2200# Supersacks.

Garnet, Waterjet, hard rock (currently only available by the container load), available grit size 80, packaged in 4400# bulk bags or 220# Supersacks.

Please email for current pricing, and availability.

PLASTIC BLASTING MEDIA

A great alternative to glass and other harsh abrasives, plastic can be used for cleaning and stripping a variety of surfaces, including aircraft, automotive and electronics.  The low density of plastic helps with a clean removal without leaving an aggressive profile. Available in T-2 Urea, T-3 Melamine, and T-5 Acrylic.

OLIVINE

Olivine is a light green hard rock abrasive.  Like Garnet, Olivine is an inert, naturally occurring mineral, that breaks down to a white or pale green dust.   Olivine has been used for restoring aluminum, fiberglass, stone, brick, and wood, as well as surface cleaning of steel.  Most common size is LE30 Mesh (similar to a 30/60 garnet) and packaged in a 2200# Supersack.
